Kevin Kalkhoven dies aged 77

Kevin Kalkhoven who was a key figure in IndyCar and motorsports has died after ongoing illness. Some of his achievements include being an investor in Cosworth and owning an IndyCar team.

Kalkhoven was the CEO of JDS Uniphase which supplies components and modules for fiber optic telecommunications.

Kalkhoven was also one of the owners of the Champ Car World Series back before it merged with the Indy Racing League in 2008.

In 1996, Kalkhoven co-founded KV Racing Technology, with Jimmy Vasser. The team collected five wins in Champ Car and IndyCar, including the 2013 Indianapolis 500, with Tony Kanaan.

Kalkhoven purchased the Cosworth and Pi Electronics companies from Ford in 2004 and severed as chairmen of the Cosworth company. Under his leadership Cosworth designed, developed and commercialized the Advanced Manufacturing Centere in Northampton. Since then Kalkhoven has stepped down but was affiliated with the Cosworth company and the Long Beach Grand Prix through to his death on January 4th 2022. He’ll be deeply missed by all of us.
